5. Add Relation (^) |
| |
This option allows you to create a relationship between two people who are
already part of the family tree. E.g. when you add a man’s son and then you add his wife, she may be
the son’s mother; however the system will not know this. Therefore you need to add this relationship
between the mother and son. To do this you must go to the mothers profile and click on the

choose the son’s name from the list of family members. There are two types of add relation options: |
| |
1) Safe Add -
This option simply creates a relationship between two people without taking in account each person’s
relationships with other people.
|
| |
2) Expert Add -
This option creates a relationship between two people, like the simple option. However, the two people
also inherit each others other relationships.
|
| |
6. Activate Member (^) |
| |
Activating an account will allow a full set of details about a person to
be entered into the system. |
There are three major options for activating an account. |
| |
1) "I would like to activate this account on behalf of this person." |
This option can be used if the person whose account you're activating is with you. They can put in their own
username, password and email address in order to activate and take control of their account. This will
change their account status to "Active". |
| |
2) "This person is my dependent and therefore I would like to take full
control of this profile." |
This option allows you to take control of the person's profile, which means that you can now add all
of the personal details for that person. Their account status will become "Dependent". |
| |
3) "Send an email invitation to this person to come and activate this
profile." |
This option allows you to send an email to a person whose account you want to activate. This email will
give them the ability to sign up to FamilyTree.com and take control of their own account. Until the
person actually signs up, their account status is set to "Waiting". When they have signed up, their
status will become "Active".

sisters and children. If you click on another member in the tree it will take you to their family
